01. Mexico City
The best places to visit in Mexico is in its capital city. Mexico City (or CDMX) is a popular city amongst residents. It's easy to find things in Mexico and a few days in the city will not help. Spend your days exploring museums that explore an extensive variety of subjects from anthropology to art to history to tequila. 02. Guanajuato City, Guanajuato
Guanajuato is the capital of Guanajutta County. It has UNESCO status and is considered a UNESCO World Historic Site with colonial houses, cobblestone streets, and a narrow winding corridor. The city features numerous plazas and historic buildings. Don't miss anything in Guanajuato. Guanajuato oozes Mexican culture.
03. Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco
Puerto Vallarta is one of the safest beach towns in Mexico. It has been regarded as an excellent Mexican holiday destination for decades and has welcomed everyone from ordinary Joes and Joannas through to Hollywood actors and directors.
After Burton finished the film The Nights of the Iguanos in 1964, his wife and then-fiancee Elizabeth Taylor purchased their own property and stayed with them in Puerto Vallarta. In contrast to other beaches in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta preserves its historic charm.
04. Puerto Escondido (one of the best places to visit in Mexico for surfing)
In Spanish it means "secreted ports" or hidden towns on the oaxacan beach. Despite being a longtime favourite among surfing fans and backpackers, the island is still an unknown region in Mexico. It could be attributed to the fact they don't fly direct from US and Canada and have a bumpy 7 hour trip by car to Oaxaca.
But this place is worth it. Even if the tide has not come, it will be interesting to see. It is possible to go sailing, observe marine fauna in an aquapark, swim in bioluminescent lagoons or sky-diving. When the excitement is over, take some time for relaxation at Temzcal — an indigenous hot tub.
05. Los Cabos
Los Cabo is an umbrella term used to describe two communities at the southernmost part of Baja – Cabo San Lucas and Jose del Cabo. There were isolated villages there until the Mexican government built a tourist attraction a few years ago. It is a famous place in Mexico that is famous for its world-class beaches, exceptional fishing, and championship golf courses.
The cities of the two are only twenty miles apart and feel far apart. San Jose is a traditional Mexican town with cobblestone streets and a crowded tree lined courtyard that is located near a beautiful Cathedral.
06. Isla Holbox (one of the top places to visit in Mexico to relax)
Holbox is one of the smallest islands in Mexico off the northern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. This is an interesting place to see wildlife mainly spotted by whale sharks during summer. We have nothing else to do.
Enjoy the peaceful, beautiful space with no shoes required. Isla Holbox is a great spot for relaxation and a great vacation destination in Mexico. The journey takes you to Chiquila by bus and then by bus. The use of car is illegal on the island and you must leave your car in the Chiquila parking spot.
07. Los Cabos, Baja California Sur
Los Cabados are currently two towns: San Lucas and San Juan del Cabo. Cabo San Lucas is the most visited destination but the airport Los Cabo International Airport is in San Jose del Cabo — although it is only about 45 minutes.
Both Cabos lie in Baja California Sur State on Mexico's western coast. The whole Baja peninsula possesses an identical climate as southern California, and is reported to have had year-long sunshine of up to 250 days.
08. Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins, Yucatan
Chichen Itza Ruine - one of Mexicos top tourist sites - attracts more than 2 million visitors per year! This town tied to Teotihuacan Ruins near Mexico City in terms of visitor numbers. Chichen Itza is among the seven greatest wonders on earth as well as Mexico UNESCO World Heritage site on the Yucatan.
Chichen Itza is located between 2 hours from a number of major Yucadian destinations in Mexico including Cancun. There's plenty of tours around Chichen Itza from any of the following destinations or you can rent Mexico's rental automobile.
09. San Jose del Cabo, Baja California Sur
San Jose del Cabo is a seaside village with less laidback vibes than Cabo San Lucas. Its cultural scene is vibrant at San Jose including its monthly art walk and historic walking tour from the local community.

10. Izamal, Yucatan: The Yellow City in Mexico
Mexico's Izamal is listed in the world's most prestigious World Heritage Site. Often called “Yellow City”, the buildings of the center, Izamal, are yellow. Izamal has a unique history as being the only mono-chromatic city in Mexico.
The Yucatán Pueblo magicalo of Izamal is a feast to the eyes. A tiny town, it is possible to visit downtown in 1-2 hours, including the Church of San Antonius de Padua in the 16th Century.
11. Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo

A short walk away from town, visit the most beautiful cenote on Playa del Carmen and the well-known Xcaret and Xeh Ha water parks in Mexico. Enjoy the walk along Quinta Avenue, Fifth Avenue in Play.
12. The Magical Towns (Pueblos Magicos)
In Mexico there are many mystical places called Pueblos magicalas. These idyllic villages offer beautiful surroundings and a peaceful vibe with charming architectural features. Several are located near Mexico city including Cholula in Puebla.
13. Cinco de Mayo in Puebla, Mexico
Many visitors to Mexico City will travel all year round for weekends and days in Puebla on Cinco Maior or May 5. Traditionally celebrated around the world Cinco Maio is rarely celebrated outside of Puebla. In history Puebla's only town has real links with Cinco de Mayo.
Although it is often mistaken for Mexican Independence day, this day is held on September 16, and not May 5. It is a more traditional celebration on May 5, 1862 when Mexico defeated France at the Battle of Puebla ending the Franco-Mexican Wars. It's an homage to the battle.
14. Oaxaca City (one of the best cities to visit in Mexico for culture)
It's an impressive colonial city which is the capital of Mexico and certainly deserves an excellent place to visit. It can also be called Wah-Ha. There are some great Mexican cuisine, lively markets and a booming arts and crafts industry.
Oaxaca hosts the festival Guelaguetza which highlights native culture, and primarily combines traditional dances with folklore. It's an amazing festival in Mexico. Aside from having a huge celebration for the day of the dead, the city also hosts a celebration called the Dia de los Muertos.
15. Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo
Isla Mujeres in Mexico is a small Island paradise located a little farther from Cancun across Bahia de Mujeres. It is accessible only by ferry from Cancun and combines sightseeing with weekend trips for tourists and local residents.
Although close to Cancán, Isla Mujerez offers an entirely different experience. As the islands are more relaxed it makes for a good place to stay for a few days at the lovely island resort of Isla Mujere. Best beaches at Isla Mujere are in Playa Norte, in the north of the islands. A white beach lined with palms and turquoise seas.
16. Ixtapa & Zihuatanejo, Guerrero
The Ixtapanejo and the Zihuatanejo (pronounced "zeeWhaa-ten-eh-eh") have very close links. Ixtapa is an isolated town on the Pacific Ocean in Guerrero. It was a decided resort town and is considered one of Mexico's top tourist destinations with ample amenities and a good infrastructure, including the airport Ixtapa Zihuatanjo. Spend some hours visiting the best beaches of Xtapa, Playa El Palmar, Playa Loyaland and Playa Quito.
17. Tulum ruins, quintana roo
Tulums'geological features include a rainforest and beachfront. It is commonly dubbed as "Balala de Mexico" because in this way it is like Bali. Tulum and its environs have several Mexican Mayan temples in Yucatán to explore, as are Hindu temples in Bali, Indonesia. Tulum is an excellent Mayan temple in Mexico.
Although a lesser location, Tulum's ruins are located in the middle of the cliff overlooking the ocean. After exploring these Mayans monuments, you can go fishing on the beach right below.
18. Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California

Wine beginners can enjoy panoramic views in Santo Tomas vineyard tasting rooms, and learn winemaking through multimedia exhibitions. Among the most interesting activities in Valle Guadalupe is to explore AlXimia, a unique and beautiful vineyard in Valle Guadalupe.
19. Palenque ruins, Chiapas
While deciding what are the best places for a holiday to Mexico is subjective to everyone travelling it can be an interesting experience. The best-known site on Palenia Mayanruins is within the rainforest. Site of UNESCO is about 135 miles (220 km) from San Pedro de Casa. The renowned buildings include the Templa del Conde (Templature of the Count), the Palacio.
20. Lake Chapala
A few kilometers north of Guadalajara lies Mexico's largest fresh water lake. It is well known for its lovely atmosphere, beautiful scenery and pleasant local inhabitants. Various towns are found on Lake Chapala and Ajijic are popular.

21. San Pancho
The “San Francisco you didn't know about” are popular nicknames for this seaside town. Often called San Pancho, it is a tiny paradise on the Mexico Pacific coastline. While it is located close to Puerto Vallarta and Sayuliti, it is not as dense or crowded as the neighbours.
Though it's an incredibly small and sleepy pueblo many activities can be found in San Pancho. You could take yoga classes, visit the polo club, volunteer at our wonderful community centre, etc.. Not bad for a small coastal village of only 2000 residents.
22. Puerto Morelos
You will not find a more authentic Mexican experience on Riviera Maya than at Playal Carmen or Cancun. It is located between two popular tourist destinations, so you can get to both easily. Although its geographic position makes Puerto Morelos feel like a different place from Cancun's. There's no massive resort in the area because the buildings are limited to three floors in a small-city atmosphere. Those who prefer luxurious vacations have plenty to offer.
23. La Paz, Baja California Sur
The town of La Paz in Baja California Sur is home to a few great beaches with great swimming possibilities, making it an ideal place for a vacation for anyone ranging from a family to an adventure seeker.
The Best beaches of La Paz are Playa El Coromuel, Playa El Tesoro, and Playa Tecolot. However the undisputed star on La Paz's Mexican coastline was the beautiful Playa Balandra. 24. Isla Holbox Island, Quintana Roo
I hope this will help clarify the name of this islands. Isla Hoobox is not the Hoobosh but a Hoobox. We are having a conversation on this beautiful Caribbean island. I'm sorry for not being able to speak english correctly. Holbox Island lies in the southeastern state of Puerto Rico three hours from Cancun.
Most visitors fly out of Cancun International Airport and then travel from Cancun on Holbox Islands. To get to the island you can take the Holbox Ferry in the small town of Chiquitla Mexico. Holbox Travel Tips: The Holbox Islands have no car parking! Everyone can walk, ride bikes, or go golf.
25. San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato
