European Villages in USA
Many travelers had to relocate their summer trips to destinations a little closer to home because they were not allowed to travel. Thankfully, no passports are necessary to experience this European culture.

01. Boston, Massachusetts
Love everything Italian? Next go to Northern Italy, a little North of Boston. A popular tourist destination for Italian immigrants in the early to middle '70s, this historic neighborhood has many Italian restaurants, shops and bakeries—as well as an old house. 02. Instead of Poland, visit New Britain, Connecticut
In the 1930s about a quarter of the population of New England was believed to be Polish. Although this percentage has dropped since more residents flocked to the area in recent years it is still able to see signs of Polish settlers from almost every corner.
There's also an old orthodox Roman Catholic church called Sacred Heart Parish in this neighborhood that was built in 1894 with restaurants, a bakery, a meat market and a bar selling anything ranging from kilbasas and golabki.

03. Instead of Germany, visit Leavenworth, Washington
The drive from Leavenworth in Washington is similar to walking across one or more German settlements in Bavaria's countryside. Despite its Germany, this little town (135 miles east of Seattle) was often not influenced primarily by Europe. In the early 60s, former logger town was given a face change by local leaders.
04. Instead of Italy, visit Healdsburg, California
With the undulating hills and plentiful wineries, the northern California town of Healdsburg resembles Tuscany. Both areas lie at identical latitudes and are also known to have similar temperate climate, which makes Healssburg the perfect growing ground for Tuscan varieties of grapes.
Portalupi is particularly an Italian vineyard whose winery produces its own Italian wine, which the owners call “Cal Ital”. The region also hosts numerous restaurant options focusing on Tuscan cuisine.

05. Leavenworth, Washington
A little over a mile from Seattle lies Leavenworth, which seems like the German city had just been taken out and deposited in the mountains of Washington. It is inspired by a small town in Bavaria and is the dreamy escape especially during the holidays.
06. New Orleans, Louisiana
Since this city was established by French colonist settlers who later gave it to Spain through the Treaty of Paris, this is a unique mixture of the countries. The wrought iron balcony and the famous Jackson Square have French influence.

07. Instead of Sweden, visit Lindsborg, Kansas
The "Little Swedish," the initial Swedish settlements in 1869, were located at Lindsborg, Kansas — an area located just south of the city center of the state. Despite being largely untouched, a small town of 3.200 is home to many of the original cultural heritages.
The Birger Sandzén Memorial Gallery at Bethany College is an art museum that gives visitors a chance to take in the paintings by the artist Birger Sandzén, who began teaching the college’s art department in 1894.

08. Solvang, California
This charming city is renowned for its charming shops and a historic White and Red Windmill. The Danish name means "shady fields," suitable for the warm California climate.
09. Instead of France, visit Natchitoches, Louisiana
While most people think that New Orleans has French culture, 3,000 square kilometers northwest the city is another potential competitor. Natchitoches was the oldest permanent European village in Louisiana purchased territory founded in 1714 and is now the capital of the French. Although the season mardi- Gras is among the most pleasant to visit in France, the French orientated city remains apparent from the 33-block historic heritage neighborhood.

10. Instead of Greece, visit Tarpon Springs, Florida
Tarpon Springs, Florida has an estimated 250,000 Greek-speaking population and the largest population. Gulf coast town outside Tampa is a thriving Hellenic town with ever-present aromas of Greek dishes sweeping into the doors of its numerous restaurants and bakery.
11. Instead of the Netherlands, visit Holland, Michigan
Holland, Michigan is one of many Dutch countryside towns in North America with wide fields of flowering trees and towering windmills dotted across Lake Michigan. The Dutch arrived at this town in 1847 in a desperate need for freedom and their historical stamps remain everywhere in the Netherlands today.

14. New Ulm, Minnesota

21. Hermann, Missouri
It's surrounded by the Missouri River and the river reminds German-immigrants of their loved Rhine. The climate has allowed the location to be suitable if you were into winemaking and the region now has many local wineries.

23. Charleston, South Carolina
