01. Etosha National Park

Etosha literally means ‘Great White Place' because of its enormous mineral sands. The second largest of Namibia's game reserves after Namib-Naukluft, Etosha National Park surrounds the vast Etosha salt pan.

Etosha National Park covers more than 20, 000 sq-km and is one of the greatest wildlife viewing locations in Africa. The final leg of our self-drive took us to Etosha National Park which is a few hours' drive from Damaraland, to the north of the country. 02. Epupa Falls

Image Source On Angola's border with Namibia is a wonderful location in Namibia's Epupa Valley. The falls originate in the Kunena River and span over 1 km. Epupa Falls may be hard to find for the tourist because the location has limited transportation options, but the area remains a very popular tourist destination in Namibia.

03. Quiver Tree Forest

Quiver Tree Forest makes an excellent place for an easy trip while driving in South Namibia. This is a famous tourist attraction around Namibia. The Quiver Tree looks really interesting. The Bushman formerly utilises branches from aloa trees as quivers and hence its name - quiver tree. TIP: Visit the adjacent Giants playground, but be aware of avoiding a maze of small dolerite rocks.

04. Kolmanskop Ghost Town

Once a German mining town, Kolmanskop is a ghost town that slowly sinks into the Sand dunes of the Namib Desert. Kolmanskop is a little further from the colonial village of Lüderitz and is regarded as the only place to know Namibias history and culture.

This is likewise an incredible photographic paradise. TIPS: Early morning is the best time to take photos. A photographic permit is available to anyone – including noncommercial photographers – from sunrise to sunset.

05. Fish River Canyon

It is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the country. It is an extensive journey but it is definitely worth it. See Fish River Canyon early to enjoy a good view. There is plenty of excellent views from the canyon.

However hiking trips or multiple days trek can be undertaken as well. TIPS: Staying at Gondwana Canyon Lodge will give you an enjoyable sunrise tour at the top of the mountain next to the lodge which offers some of the greatest views!

06. Walvis Bay Flamingos

Walvis Bay waterfront hosts an important flamingo population. Expect thousands of pink flamingo species along with pelicans and other bird species on this tour. Do you need flamingos for travel to these parts? There is definitely something worth visiting in Namibia. TIP: Book a Walvis Bay cruise with dolphins.

07. Skeleton Coast National Park

Shipwreck Lodge The Skeleton coast is often credited with famed shipwrecks and fables about sailors who walk thousands of miles in search. The San Bushman named this land the god of anger and Portuguese explorers named it The Gates of Hell. This unique shipwreck Lodge is the only property on Skeleton Coast Nationalpark.

08. SKELETON COAST

Skeleton Coast must also be viewed as one of your bucket list. There are several wreckages scattered around, the ship wreck The Zelia is easy to spot near Swakopmund. The Skeleton Coast is known by sailors for being “the gates of hell”. Skeleton Bay in Namibia has thick fogs and heavy surf which caused many ship sinks.

Those who enjoy driving around in these very wild and desolated areas should also enjoy the sandy beaches along the road side and the desert on either side which make this place extremely distinctive.

09. Cape Cross Seals

I could never explain the place. Cape Cross Seal Reserve is another absolute favourite on my Namibia trip. There are hundreds of thousands of seals in our sight. This is an amazing place and an experience you won't forget. TIP: Start early at 7 a.m. ideally on a sunny day so that there aren't any smells from the road.

10. Zambezi Region (formerly Caprivi Strip)

Game Drive from Namushashesha River Lodge. Considered as the answer to the Okavango Delta in Namibia by most Namibian tourists, Caprivi offers an incredible savanna safari in pristine rivers and wetlands.

The main draw card of the region is the fact that it is enclosed in four perennial rivers Chobe Kwando Linyanti and Zambezi making it an ideal habitat for elephants, buffalos, hippo and crocodiles.

Bird watching is also excellent, the country possesses over 600 bird species. Caprivi offers several private Game Reserves with excellent Lodges offering boat tours and spectacular sunset excursions in their own right.

11. THE FLAMINGO COLONY IN WALVIZ BAY

This is a great spot for the wildlife to explore - it mainly exists near Pelicans Point on the Walvis Bay. The shallow 45,000 ha lagoon west from Walvis Bay and west from the Kuiseb River's mouth attracts a variety of coastal birds and a huge number of flamingo species.

The Flamingo colony has an incredible variety of views and photographs. Flamingos gather in a lagoon where they can be quickly found. It is an amazing sight to watch flamingos in a large group.

12. Okonjima Nature Reserve

Namibian cheetah population is largest and healthy on planet Earth. Okonjima lies halfway between Windhoek, the main city of Namibia, and is also an excellent stopover between the two.

The reserve is known for its stunning leopards and cheetahs and hosts The AfriCat Foundation – an international organisation which provides significant contributions to the long-term preservation of Namibia’s large wildlife.

13. Namib Naukluft National park

The Namib Naukluft National park is one of the best places to visit in Namibia. It is just stunning, surreal, and absolutely inspiring. It is just stunning, surreal, and absolutely inspiring. I recommend watching a sunset and a sunrise at Deadsvlei, as the sun uncovers outstanding shadows of the trees on the claypan ground.

14. Red sand dunes

15. Sossusvlei

This is a stunning salt and clay pan surrounded by some of the highest dunes in the world, located in the Namib Desert. The dunes are a deep orange-red color and provide a stunning contrast to the blue sky.
